CULTURE

The Camboa Institute works to preserve and promote local culture by integrating craftsmanship, education, and productive inclusion as tools for empowerment and income generation. Initiatives such as the lighting project developed in partnership with LD Studio, Grupo Carnaúba, and Artes da Terra—which created unique lighting pieces using local techniques and materials—and the 1st Patchwork Landscape Workshop Series, which trained 15 women in creative sewing, laid the foundation for this area of work.

In 2025, this initiative gained further momentum. In February, in partnership with CEART, the Institute conducted the mapping and certification of more than 90 artisans in the region, granting them access to tax exemptions, sales opportunities in CeArt stores, participation in fairs, and professional training workshops. Shortly afterward, the region’s first Free Embroidery Course was held in partnership with Ateliê Caminhos Casa, from Rio de Janeiro, achieving full participation from all enrolled attendees.

The Institute was also recognized by the Municipality of Acaraú as one of the five training hubs for the MAE Project (Women Entrepreneurs of Acaraú), an initiative by the Department of Culture and Tourism focused on the creative economy, which offered six courses in 2025.

To turn learning into tangible income opportunities, the Institute organized two regional events for the exhibition and sale of local crafts and cuisine, two regional breakfast markets for commercialization, and two craft workshops for external audiences.

214 people were directly impacted by Culture training initiatives in 2025, more than 190 of whom were women.
